The elementary social studies curriculum of Enfield Public Schools provides the opportunity for each student to acquire knowledge and develop skills necessary for social, political,
and economic participation in a diverse, interdependent and changing world. Students will learn to exhibit their comprehension of significant historical events and themes. Events
and themes will be local, national or global dependent upon grade level. Student s will also learn to demonstrate an understanding of geographical space and place. The elementary
social studies curriculum also teaches students to value the rights and responsibilities of citizens. Through their social studies instruction, elementary students will also develop
competency in the literacy, inquiry, and research skills necessary to analyze, evaluate, and present history and social studies information.
