Curriculum
Enfield’s Technology Education curriculum was developed around the goal of creating technologically literate students across multiple technological disciplines. According to the ITEA Standards for Technological Literacy (2000), “Technological literacy is the ability to use, manage, assess, and understand technology. A technologically literate person understands, in increasingly sophisticated ways that evolve over time, what technology is, how it is created, and how it shapes society (p. 10). Technological literacy helps prepare students for future learning and occupations by helping develop technical knowledge and skills, but more importantly, a systematic thought processes that helps students identify and evaluate the economic, political, social/cultural, and environmental impacts of technology on a global society.
