Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you well and that you and your children are looking forward to an enjoyable summer break. I wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with important information regarding the use of EPS issued iPads for students during the summer.
We believe in utilizing technology to enhance the learning experience of our students. iPads have proven to be valuable tools that foster creativity, critical thinking, and digital literacy skills. To ensure a safe and productive experience, we have established the following guidelines and practices for iPad usage over the summer:
- Care and Responsibility:
- Please ensure that the iPad is used in a safe and appropriate environment to prevent accidental damage.
- Encourage your child to handle the iPad with care, avoiding rough handling or placing heavy objects on top of it.
- Remind your child to keep the iPad away from food, beverages, and any other liquids.
- Maintain the use of protective case and keyboard to safeguard the iPad from accidental drops or impact.
- Device Updates and Maintenance:
- It is crucial to keep the iPad's software up to date for optimal performance and security. Please ensure that your child's iPad is regularly updated with the latest iOS version.
- To update the iPad, follow these steps:
- Connect the iPad to Wi-Fi
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- If an update is available, follow the prompts to download and install it.
- It is essential that your child's iPad is charged regularly to avoid any interruptions during use.
- App Selection and Monitoring:
- Encourage your child to use the installed approved educational apps and games that align with their learning objectives.
- Be involved in selecting and approving apps for your child to download and use.
- Regularly monitor your child's iPad usage and the apps they have installed.
- Screen Time and Balancing Activities:
- While iPads can be valuable educational tools, it is essential to maintain a balance between screen time and other activities.
- Encourage your child to engage in physical activities, reading, socializing, and exploring the outdoors.
- Establish screen time limits and encourage breaks to prevent excessive use.
- Online Safety and Responsible Digital Citizenship:
- Reinforce the importance of responsible online behavior, such as being respectful to others, protecting personal information, and avoiding inappropriate content.
- Teach your child about internet safety and the importance of not sharing personal information or engaging with strangers online.
- Supervise your child's online activities and maintain an open line of communication to address any concerns or questions they may have.
We believe that by following these guidelines, your child will have a safe and enriching experience using iPads over the summer. These practices align with our commitment to promoting responsible technology usage and ensuring the well-being of our students.
